Born and raised in the small town of Harpswell, Maine, Dr. Maggie Wessel has always dreamed of living and working in the vibrant atmosphere of New York City. She enjoys working with a diverse and active population. Her treatment philosophy emphasizes a holistic and all-encompassing model that educates her patients on bettering their physical and mental health through proper movement, nutrition, and patient empowerment.
She has led an active lifestyle from a young age, engaging in activities like soccer, ice hockey, and exploring the great outdoors. This motivated her to attend the University of Maine to develop human movement and physiology expertise. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science. Following her passion for motivating others to lead a healthier lifestyle, she continued to Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly New York Chiropractic College) and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic. She became certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) after graduation and now takes great pleasure in helping patients achieve their fitness goals, whether just lifting weights or training for a marathon.
She also obtains Active Release Technique (ART) and Whole Foods Nutrition (WFN) certifications. Her other treatment techniques include manual soft tissue, Graston therapy or instrument-assisted soft tissue scraping, flexion distraction, and manual adjustments to the spine and extremities to address various musculoskeletal concerns.
Dr. Maggie understands that visiting a chiropractor can be intimidating, so she greatly emphasizes getting to know her patients on a personal level. She is known for building a strong connection with each patient and emphasizing the importance of making them feel comfortable during every visit. Dr. Maggie believes laughter is a powerful tool, and if she can bring a smile to your face, it makes her day.
